Two years have passed since the Tempi train tragedy, a crime that took the lives of 57 people on February 28, 2023. Two years of unanswered questions, obstructed investigations, and a coordinated cover-up by the Greek government and judicial authorities. As justice continues to be denied, the people refuse to be silenced. On February 28, 2025, in more than 385 locations across Greece and around the world, voices will rise in unison, demanding accountability, transparency, and justice.
On Friday 28/02/2025, on the anniversary of the Tempi tragedy, mobilizations are being organized throughout Greece and abroad with strikes by unions and large participation by citizens.
Multiple protest rallies in 264 cities in Greece and 125 abroad are taking place on Friday 28/02/2025, two years after the Tempi railway crime. With the slogan “Justice to the end”, a strike uprising and a huge mobilization of citizens give a resounding message against the cover-up. On this black anniversary, citizens join forces with the struggle of the Association of Relatives of the Tempi Victims and contribute to their efforts for justice.
The main demands of the citizens are (1) the rule of law should finally function, (2) there should be no cover-up, (3) those responsible for the tragedy should be punished, no matter how high they are, (4) land, air and sea transport should be shielded, so that society as a whole is protected and that we do not mourn any more victims.
The Top Management of Public Servants’ Unions (ADEDY) and The General Confederation of Workers of Greece (GSEE) are participating in the strike mobilizations as they have proceeded to declare a 24-hour nationwide strike. Also, many associations, businesses and universities are supporting the strike.
